Ready-to-eat meat and poultry products recalled

In October 2024, the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA), U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Washington State Department of Health recalled multiple fresh and frozen ready-to-eat meat and poultry products due to potential for Listeria monocytogenes contamination.

Detailed lists of recalled products with photos are available at the USDA recall website and FDA recall website. The recall lists are updated regularly as the investigation progresses. The recalled products can be identified by Product Name or Brand (e.g. Trader Joe’s, Taylor Farms, Kroger, Michelina’s), Establishment Number, UPC Lot Code and Best By date on the packaging.

Recalled products were shipped by the processor to distributors, grocery stores, restaurants and institutions nationwide. To date there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.

University food establishments have been notified of the recalls and have checked their present inventories to ensure recalled products are not included in sale or service.

What to do:

  • Do not eat any recalled products. Discard recalled products or return unopened product to supplier for refund.

  • Check your home fridges and freezers for recalled products, carefully reviewing Lot Codes and Use By dates.

  • Contact your healthcare provider if you ate a recalled product and have symptoms of listeriosis
