Electrical Safety Low Voltage Qualified
*Note: This course was previously titled Low Voltage Electrical Safety.
Intended audience
This course is required for University personnel to be qualified to work on exposed energized parts operating between 50 and 600 volts to ground. Retraining is required every three (3) years.
Personnel who may encounter exposed energized parts but are not qualified to work on them must instead take the Electrical Safety in the Workplace course.
Personnel who do not encounter exposed energized electrical parts but want basic electrical safety awareness and recognition skills are advised to take the Electrical Safety Awareness Online course.
Description
This course teaches safe work practices, personal protective equipment requirements, establishing electrically safe work conditions, and the responsibilities of "Qualified Electrical Workers." It includes group case studies on job planning, energized work permits, and mitigating the risk of arc flash and shock.
