Managing Laboratory Chemicals Online
Intended audience
This course is required for University personnel who work in laboratories where hazardous chemicals are present. Retraining is required every 3 years.
Description
This course covers chemical hazards, GHS chemical labeling, protective measures, chemical storage, safety data sheets, hazardous waste disposal, and chemical spill prevention and response in laboratories. This includes the unique hazards and specific emergency response procedures for working with hydrofluoric acid. The class partially fulfills federal and state chemical safety and hazardous waste training requirements and must be supplemented in the lab with laboratory-specific information as outlined in the UW Laboratory Safety Manual.
