Select Agent Program Training
Intended audience
This course is required for University personnel enrolled in the University of Washington (UW) Select Agent Program. Retraining is required annually.
Description
This course, in combination with BSL-3 Training for UW, is specific to an individual’s access to select agents and toxins as well as the scope of their work. It is designed to ensure that individuals safely work with select agents and comply with UW procedures to mitigate risks to people, the agent or toxin security, the environment, and the public. Some of the topics covered are:
- CDC Select Agent program
- UW Select Agent program
- Biosecurity overview
- Insider threat awareness
- Suitability assessment
- Information security
- Inventory and records management
The training is scheduled as needed and is suitable for all Select Agent research staff, facility managers, and biosafety officers. This training meets the federal select agent regulation requirements.
